Function of Position:
Working as a Peer Advisor (PA) is a unique job opportunity for students who enjoy helping people and want to gain professional experience in an office environment. PAs support the Student Success and Advising Services staff throughout the year. PAs will help MCC students navigate all the services, resources and tools available to them, and support assigned Success Coaches with necessary tasks, in a collaborative, learning environment. A Peer Advisor is someone who enjoys helping people and is technically savvy. This is a Federal Work Study position. Eligible applicants MUST have received prior approval from the Financial Aid Office. If you are unsure of your eligibility, please contact Financial Aid before applying.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
Staff the Self-Service area and assist students with scheduling courses for next semester Assist students with setting up their network account and registering for classes. Assist students with the functions of their myMCC account. Ex) Registration, DegreeWorks, Starfish and Brightspace Refer students to appropriate campus resources and academic support services Work with Success Coaches to support them in administrative tasks Participate in continual learning opportunities to be proficient and dependable employees upon graduation Additional duties as needed

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must be Federal Work Study eligible (you can confirm your eligibility with a Financial Aid representative) Peer Advisors must be personable and able to work with our diverse student body Technical knowledge of myMCC portal Basic knowledge of campus programs and services GPA of 2.5 or above
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

Pay Rate:
