Probationary Job Description:
The Amityville School District seeks an experienced and dynamic leader to serve as the Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations . This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient management of the district’s financial systems and operations, while directly supervising the Directors/Coordinators of Transportation, Buildings & Grounds, Food Services, Security, and the Business Office. The ideal candidate will bring at least five years of experience in school business administration, along with deep operational knowledge and proven leadership skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Oversight & Budget Management:
- Develop, implement, and monitor the district’s annual budget and financial plans.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations through rigorous financial management and audits.
Operational Leadership:
- Supervise the directors of Transportation, Buildings & Grounds, Food Services, Security, and the Business Office.
- Collaborate with department heads to ensure efficient operations and high-quality services across the district.
Strategic Planning & Reporting:
- Prepare and present detailed financial reports, forecasts, and operational updates to the Superintendent, Board of Education, and other stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost efficiencies while supporting strategic educational initiatives.
Compliance & Best Practices:
- Maintain a thorough understanding of current regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Lead efforts in the continuous improvement of operational policies and procedures.
Team Development:
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to direct reports and team members.
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and accountability.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in finance, operations, or school business administration.
Certification:
- NYS School Business Administrator (SBA) or School District Business Leader (SDBL).
Skills:
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership abilities.
- Demonstrated experience in budget development, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to manage multiple operational domains effectively.
SALARY RANGE
: Competitive salary commensurate with experience $185,000
