1st and 2nd Grade English Teacher Brandeis Hebrew Academy 25 Frost Lane, Lawrence, NY 11559 Position Overview Our school is seeking a passionate and committed Lower School General Studies Teacher to join our team. This role involves teaching core academic subjects across multiple lower elementary grade levels. The ideal candidate will create an engaging, nurturing classroom environment that supports students’ academic, social, and emotional development. Flexibility, collaboration, and a strong understanding of differentiated instruction are essential for success in this multi-grade teaching position. Responsibilities Plan and deliver dynamic, standards-based lessons across core general studies subjects (e.g., language arts, math, science, and social studies). Adapt instruction to meet the varied learning styles and developmental levels of students in multiple lower grade classrooms. Use effective behavior management strategies to maintain a respectful, productive learning environment. Provide individualized support and small-group instruction, including accommodations for students with special needs such as autism. Collaborate with fellow teachers and administrators on curriculum planning and school initiatives. Promote literacy and research skills through integration of library/media resources. Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and classroom updates. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in elementary education. Qualifications Experience teaching in a lower elementary classroom, ideally within a private school setting. Knowledge of special education strategies and experience supporting students with diverse learning needs. Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with students, families, and colleagues. Experience with curriculum development and the ability to teach multiple subjects across different grade levels.
