Job Responsibilities Geography instructor will teach course offerings (for geography) at Midlands Technical College (MTC) and dual enrollment sites either on-campus, virtual, or online during the regular daytime hours and occasionally nights. The MTC courses, and by extension the professor, are under the purview of MTC and the supervision of the appropriate MTC Department Chair/Program Director. The professor is expected to comply with all MTC policies and procedures. The courses should contain the required student learning outcomes as defined by the department, assessment, and evaluation of student learning outcomes and instructional effectiveness. The professor is expected to prepare course plans and materials, manage the classroom environment, and keep updated records in the learning management system for all courses. The instructor will collaborate with other geography faculty to compile department-wide data for the student learning outcomes and report the findings annually, contribute to the innovative curriculum development for the geography courses, and coordinate the materials for the geography classes (book selections and online course compliance). The professor will also support assigned faculty within the discipline with discipline-specific matters and spearhead the initiative to develop a GIS course for the geography pathway. This position is located both on and off the Midlands Technical College Beltline Campus. Minimum and Additional Requirements Master’s degree in Geography, or a Master’s degree in a related field with 18 graduate hours in Geography. Preferred Qualifications Doctorate or Master’s degree in Geography with demonstrated experience and expertise in teaching to a diverse and non-traditional two-year college student population. Teaching and professional experience in geographic information systems (GIS) is also preferred. Employer
