Position Information Title AY25-26 Graduate Assistant – English Programs
Position Description The Graduate Assistant (GA) will work 20 hours per week and receive up to 24 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 9 for fall, 9 for spring and 6 for summer.

Overview:

Our GA for 2025-26 would work with both the Graduate English chair, Dr. Halina Adams, and the English department chair, Dr. Ann Brunjes, to support initiatives for both our graduate and undergraduate English programs.

Duties:

For the Graduate coordinator Dr. Adams, the GA’s tasks (approximately 15 hours per week) will include:
helping to plan the Graduate English Regional conference (in fall, actual conference to be held in spring) with partnering school Salem State
planning other events to serve the needs of our graduate students in our program (career events, writing workshops, social events)
serving as the webmaster for the Graduate program webpage
updating our list of available internships
maintaining our Grad English Facebook site to create community and share information
visiting senior seminars to recruit undergraduates to apply to our program
helping to plan and market our 4+1 program
obtaining information on capstone projects for MAT programs at our peer institutions to aid in the revamping of our MAT exit criteria
contacting and collecting the names of superintendents and principals interested in having graduate faculty present at PD workshops
distributing and collecting materials for our assessment of our topics courses (570, 580, 590) In the other 5 hours per week, the GA would work with Dr.

Brunjes on the following projects:

serving as webmaster for the undergraduate program webpage, including creation of new content such as features on individual majors and faculty members, department events and opportunities, and information on careers for English majors
developing and distributing student surveys on new curriculum, scheduling, and summer and evening courses
researching and developing recruitment materials for high school students and outreach materials for alumni
researching outreach programs to minoritized and first generation students
gathering materials on English careers for students

Preferred Qualifications Preferred Qualifications:

Strong communication skills
Impeccable time management
Flexibility to meet with students and faculty on campus
Experience with English coursework at the undergraduate and/or graduate level
