Job Description

The full-time program director is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating the instructional programs and practices in the College Transition Center and in College and Career Readiness Prison Programming. The program director of the College Transition Center reports to the Senior Director of College and Career Readiness and has the following duties: Manages assigned College and Career Readiness classes by hiring faculty, providing timely, targeted training, evaluating classes and instructors for effectiveness in teaching, and encouraging faculty to engage in campus activities and events Provides in-service training for faculty and staff professional development focused on improving student outcomes for students in the College Transition Center Supervises student testing, and collaborates with internal departments and external partners to market programs, promote student success, and support students’ transition to Davidson-Davie Completes timely documentation and reporting in accordance with state and federal regulations Supports student success by guiding curriculum development that incorporates contextualized instruction, technology, and innovative teaching strategies, strengthening student learning, confidence, and readiness for employment or college. Facilitates orientation, as needed, to new or returning students Supports College Transition Center faculty to meet the academic, emotional, and behavioral needs of students Develops and evaluates site-based plans to promote student retention, completion, and transition outcomes, and makes data-informed decisions and recommendations regarding the College Transition Center and programming for prison residents. Manages allotted budget effectively to meet student needs Builds and maintains a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment and participates in college meetings, committees, events, and other assigned duties. Works evenings or weekends as needed to support program goals.

Position Qualifications Required:

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution Experience working with at risk populations in a school setting Skill in the use of computers and commitment to using technology

Preferred:

Masters’ degree from a regionally accredited institution Experience in the planning and implementation of College and Career Readiness/Basic Skills programming, and Developmental Education models and programming Experience teaching in a 9-12 or community college setting Successful management experience in higher education, preferably at a community college Experience in the supervision of academic divisions/departments Demonstrated commitment to a student-centered philosophy and approach to learning Excellent oral and written communication skills Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with others
