FY 2023 POSITION OBJECTIVES
: Candidates must be able to work creatively and collaboratively to foster an environment that supports the district in moving towards fulfilling our school wide goals: Foster and maintain a community where all students, staff and families feel safe – seen, heard, understood and respected. Build and sustain a rigorous and robust academic program that provides access and meaning for ALL students. Create a physical environment that reflects the district’s positive school climate and culture.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned. Point person for daily behavior and follow through including follow up with staff or other affected employees, families and students. Serves as a behavior coach for both students and staff in the building by modeling effective approaches and methods to support students in remaining regulated and engaged in their learning Prepares and maintains accurate, timely, complete, effective and confidential student records and related reports as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations for students related to Educational Support Team, Coordinated Support plans, Behavior system, Truancy and Safety plans Ensures strong communication regarding the above to both necessary staff, students and families Conducts initial interviews and paperwork as needed for Hazing, Harassment or Bullying under the guidance of the Co-Principal and/or Director of Student Services
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Demonstrated proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software. Consistent, calm and thoughtful during intense and controversial situations Demonstrated ability to manage conflict through quality decision-making and effective problem solving. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Effective interpersonal skills in managing and interacting with diverse groups of stakeholders.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
: Reports to, receives direction from, evaluated by Building Adminstrators.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates for this position must meet the minimum qualifications. Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree in Education, Social Work, or a related field. Previous experience working with students, preferably middle level grades 5-8. Training and familiarity with educating students with a trauma background and restorative practices.
