POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Adjunct Instructor – Graduate Accounting Mount Vernon Nazarene University exists to shape lives through educating the whole person and cultivating Christ-likeness for lifelong learning and service. Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) is an intentionally Christian teaching university for traditional age students, graduate students, and working adults who seek opportunities to learn and grow in an academic community of faith. The University provides the context for a transformational experience through excellent academics, service opportunities, caring relationships, and a nurturing spiritual and social environment. Faculty, staff, and students are challenged to achieve their highest potential, to become increasingly Christ-like and to make a difference in their world through lifelong service. The University seeks a part-time Adjunct Instructor in Accounting for the School of Graduate and Professional Studies. All graduate accounting courses offered through the School of Graduate and Professional Studies utilize pre-developed, standardized curricula (includes textbook selection, course syllabus, grading scale, and all learning objectives, assignments, assessments, and activities). Instructors are required to facilitate the course using these materials and resources, which are provided to students via the Moodle learning management system.

Responsibilities:
  • Nurture a positive online learning environment that fosters collegiality, critical thinking, personal growth, and mutual respect
  • Effectively facilitate weekly course content, including all discussion forums and other learning activities
  • Ensure completion of all learning outcomes as outlined in the course syllabus
  • Regularly interact with students via weekly announcements and discussion forums
  • Provide detailed and timely feedback on all student assignments
  • Actively monitor student progress and timely completion of all assigned learning activities, and assist students as needed
  • Identify at-risk students and refer them to appropriate academic support services
  • Respond to all student questions and concerns in a timely manner
  • Submit weekly attendance and final grades within required deadlines Expectations for the Successful Candidate
  • Evangelical Christian confession of faith and experience (Statement of Faith required at application)
  • an earned doctorate in Accounting or related field from an accredited U.S. college/university
  • industry experience in Accounting (preferred)
  • exceptional interpersonal, oral presentation, and written communication skills
  • engaging facilitation style and appreciation of successful instructional approaches for a range of student academic abilities
