Bookmobile Library Aide – Part-Time (2500-J#6589, 3986)
Department:
Pollard Memorial Library Reports To:
Library Director; Assistant Director; Coordinator of Community Planning, and Bookmobile Librarian.
Salary:
$20.00 per hour. Grant-funded position.
Work Schedule:
Up to 19 hours weekly, may include evenings and weekends.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Works under the direction of the Coordinator of Community Planning and the Bookmobile Librarian. Assignment to Bookmobile to process materials and assist with outreach activities. Loads and unloads book trucks on the outreach vehicle and drives vehicle to outreach facilities. Performance of all circulation-related tasks in the bookmobile and/or library. Delivers books to homebound patrons. Shelving and maintaining order of all library materials. Performs other related duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Commitment to serving a diverse urban population required. • Knowledge of computers and database entry preferred. • Valid driver’s license with good driving history.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Applicants with skills in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Khmer and other languages present in Lowell encouraged to apply. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to library patrons
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver’s license with good driving history.
