Job Purpose The Digital Library Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting the operations of the Lowcountry Digital Library (LCDL) and other Library web properties and initiatives. Reporting to the Digital Services Coordinator, this position collaborates with the Digital Projects Librarian and LCDL partners to digitize, describe, and publish collections that enhance research on the Lowcountry region of South Carolina and interrelated historical sites in the Atlantic World. Utilizing strong technical skills and a commitment to continuous learning, the Analyst also works closely with the Digital Services Coordinator to maintain and support Library web properties, including Library-hosted websites, repositories, and server environments. This full-time, permanent professional staff position is a part of the Collection and Content Services team. Minimum Requirements A high school diploma and 2 years experience in computer system development and modification. A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field may substitute for the required work experience. Training will be provided. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Qualifications
Basic understanding of Windows and MacOS environments.
Basic understanding of Dublin Core or MODS metadata.
Working knowledge of digitization equipment.
Intermediate experience with Microsoft products, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams.
Basic knowledge of capabilities and intricacies of information systems.
Ability to understand and carry out basic technical instructions and requests.
Ability to analyze and reduce to logical order complex technical data.
Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to work effectively with users, vendors, and other IT personnel.
Ability to assist with identifying and resolving problems.
Previous experience or familiarity with content management systems, collection management systems, and/or digital asset management systems. Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Linux/Ubuntu server environments and their maintenance.
Experience with WordPress, ResourceSpace, and/or Omeka.
Experience with HTTP server applications like Apache or nginx.
Familiarity with XML, JSON, and other data formats and markup languages.
Experience troubleshooting software and systems issues in Windows and MacOS environments.
