Director of Middle School, Head of School Position Purpose:

To provide an educational setting for the teaching of Middle School Spanish while offering a superior education academically, spiritually, and socially in a structured, positive environment in the tradition of Catholic education.

Job Description:

The Spanish teacher motivates middle school students to develop the necessary skills for continued language acquisition and provides instructional experiences as a foundation for the Spanish language and culture. The Spanish teacher should be familiar with the school’s K-12 Spanish curriculum, as wella as all school procedures, including the school’s philosophy and mission statement.

Qualifications and Responsibilities:

1. Bachelor’ Degree required; Master’s Degree in Spanish language, Literature or an equivalent preferred. 2. Certification in Spanish K-12 3. Written and verbal proficiency in Spanish 4. Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills. 5. Experience in integrating classroom technology in order to enhance student learning. 6. Ability to communicate well with middle school students, staff, and parents. 7. Previous teaching experience required. 8. A positive attitude and a committed team player. 9. Accountable for daily curriculum planning and implementation of lesson plans. 10. Conduct oneself in a professional and Christian manner both in and out of the classroom and school. 11. Capable of instructing various groups of students in a supportive manner. 12. Ability to differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs. 13. Ability to attend all faculty/committee meetings, in-service programs, open houses, and parent-teacher conferences. 14. Fulfill all obligations agreed to in Teacher Contract, Employee & Parent/Student Handbooks, and Board Policies. 15. Carry out any additional tasks/jobs requested by the Middle School Director or Head of School as deemed necessary.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

Work in an environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, and a varied and diverse array of contacts. Be able to repetitively bend and kneel. Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs. Be able to work outside on the playground. Be able to stand and move around for prolonged periods of time. Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled classroom environment. Transport students between buildings, inclusive of flights of stairs, to/from lunch, assemblies, co-curricular classes, etc. Daily arrival/dismissal duty monitoring and helping students into and out of automobiles.
