Job Description
Young Scholars of Western Pennsylvania Charter School (YSWPCS) is looking to hire a Middle School Turkish Language and Literature Teacher, in Pittsburgh, PA, who will be responsible for teaching middle school students in the courses in Turkish language and literature and related sub-topics. Specifically, the teacher will:
- Prepare course objectives and outlines for courses of study following curriculum guidelines and school requirements;
- Instruct students using various teaching methods
- Assign lessons, correct homework, and administer tests to evaluate student progress;
- Meet with parents to discuss student progress and design and implement individualized programs, after-school tutoring, and remedial sessions as necessary;
- Participate in faculty meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops; and
- Sponsor student activities and student organizations, after-school activities, and run after-school clubs. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in Foreign Language, Applied Linguistics, or a related field. A successful candidate must be fluent in Turkish and have two (2) years of experience in:
- Teaching and developing a language curriculum to middle or high (secondary) school students;
- Developing lesson plans, course objectives and outlines according to curriculum standards;
- Selecting workbooks and textbooks;
- Managing project-based learning activities;
- Designing individualized learning plans for students; and
- Coordinating extracurricular programs and preparing students for multicultural events.
