New-to-Mastery Resident Teachers can expect a starting annualsalary of $48,200. Residents are eligible for up to $5,000 for Year1 tuition reimbursement!

The Residency offers aspiring educators, including recentcollege graduates and career changers, a unique opportunity toreceive high-quality teacher training while gradually taking onmore teaching responsibility. During this multi-year program, youspend your first year in a full-time support teaching positionreceiving mentorship and professional development from your schoolleaders, Graduate School Faculty Partners, and our centraloffice-based coaches to help you become an effective teacher. TheElementary (K-5)
Experience:
Residents working in our ElementarySchools will get the opportunity to empower students with thefoundational blocks for their academic success by implementingMastery’s rigorous literacy and math curricula and supportingstudents through small-group instruction, in both push-in andpull-out settings. Through an accelerated on-ramp and frequentcollaboration with skilled Special and General Education teachers,Residents will not only strengthen their students’ skills but alsohone their own teaching craft! The Middle/Secondary (6-12)
Experience:
Residents working in our Middle and Secondary Schoolswill get the opportunity to work closely with a strong mentorteacher in their content area whose classroom will serve as theirhome base during their first year for their gradual on-rampexperience. Through a gradual on-ramp designed around the pillarsof frequent coaching, practice opportunities, and feedback,Residents’ opportunities for growth will be limitless! As aResident Teacher, your passion and experience is valued as you workclosely with your fellow educators to create a joyful, learningcommunity that is driven by Mastery’s mission and vision. As aMastery team member, you will be trusted to make decisions and heldaccountable for critical results. You will engage in a positive andprofessional workplace embedded in a warm, joyful,student-centered, and welcoming school culture. After a successfulfirst year in the Residency, participants will be prepared totransition into a full-time lead teaching position at Mastery.

Education, Experience, and Skills:
Bachelor’sdegree required with a record of personal, professional, and/oracademic achievement; Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 (Pleasereach out if your undergraduate GPA is below a 3.0) If currently inschool, expected Bachelor’s degree by June 2025 Official copy oftranscript is required for application to Relay Graduate School ofEducation or American University Commitment to and experience(preferable) working with underserved communities A strong sense ofprofessional responsibility; genuine interest, belief, and care forstudents’ personal and academic success The ability to motivate,support, and challenge students in a student-centered,standards-driven classroom community Commitment to professionalgrowth, self-reflection, receptiveness to feedback, and a desire tocontinuously improve and effectively address challenges
Duties andResponsibilities:
Provide small and whole group instruction tostudents for academic support Attend practice sessions and anevening academic content class weekly Successfully complete PA/NJteacher certification requirements and Relay or City TeachingAlliance academic coursework Commit to serve Mastery’s schoolcommunities for at least three years after the Residency Work withlead teachers to: Implement curriculum and utilize classroomroutines and procedures with consistency Analyze student assessmentdata to measure progress and inform instruction Build relationshipsand maintain regular communication with families Collaborate todiscuss student work, share best practices, and ensure studentmastery of standards Other responsibilities as requestedNew-to-Mastery Resident Teachers can expect a starting annualsalary of $48,200.
