School Year Qualifications:
Valid Maine Department of Education teaching certification with proper endorsement Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Identify, promote and develop each student’s talents in vocal and instrumental musical expression Develop and administer music education curriculum consistent with school department goals and objectives Develop lesson plans and instructional materials to provide customized, small and large group instruction for grades K-12 with a focus on general music lessons K-6 Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to create a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning Regularly assess each student’s academic and social growth, maintain appropriate and timely records, and prepare progress reports Plan, coordinate rehearsals for, and direct students in musical programs and performances outside the classroom Communicate frequently with parents through conferences and other means such as newsletters, email, phone calls, student information system postings (as applicable), web pages, blogs, and other electronic means to discuss student’s progress as it relates to curriculum Create an effective learning environment through a variety of learning tools Continue professional growth through various means such as professional learning communities, conferences, workshops, professional memberships and readings, etc. Maintain technological proficiency for purposes of instruction, reporting and communicating Vary instructional techniques to address individual learning styles Advance the vision, the mission and school improvement efforts of the school district Participate in parent conferences, open houses, and other required school events based on the responsibilities of the assigned position Other job-related duties as assigned by the Building Principal Proper Maine DOE certification and background check required for all positions Forward signed application (www.rsu29.org), resume, transcripts, certification and 3 references to: RSU 29
