Full-Time Music Teacher Thomas Heyward Academy – Ridgeland, South Carolina Thomas Heyward Academy invites applications for a full-time Music Teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year. This is a unique opportunity to lead a dynamic and well-supported music program that serves students from Lower School through Upper School. Our music program is generously sponsored by Mrs. G’s Music Foundation, established by Mrs. Dinah Gretsch, co-owner of Gretsch Music, an iconic name in American musical tradition.
Program Highlights:
The curriculum emphasizes hands-on experience with musical instruments, including the following: recorders, drums, hand bells, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, electric guitar, keyboard While proficiency in every instrument is not required, the ideal candidate will be comfortable managing a diverse classroom, utilizing video instruction and other aides as needed to support student learning and engagement.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in music, education, or a related field Experience teaching or working with school-aged children Enthusiasm for fostering a lifelong appreciation for music Strong classroom management and communication skills Willingness to collaborate with faculty and participate in school life Teaching certification not required
