This includes evangelization, catechesis, and support. This assistance is provided to both parish leadership and the lay faithful. This consultant will collaborate with other ministry area teams within the Office for Lifelong Faith Formation and Parish Support. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate with the Director in the overall mission of the OLFFPS. Engage clergy, lay parish leadership, and volunteers to support them in their efforts to promote a culture of marriage and family. Answer inquiries with charity, sensitivity, and knowledge via multiple platforms. Facilitate programs, workshops, webinars, and events, such as Transformed in Love marriage preparation, team training, and future marriage mentor development. Provide resources and support for those impacted by divorce and separation directly to the individual and through the parish. Provide resources and support for natural family planning to individuals, couples, and parishes. Assist with the collection of data and observation of trends associated with marriage and family. Serve as an archdiocesan liaison for various ecclesial movements. Assistance includes providing resources, assistance with communication, and making connections with other communities. Create and update educational and ministerial resources. Provide educational and support resources to parishes and families with people with disabilities. Assist with marketing and communication for the promotion of programs and events hosted by the team. Use the office website, evangelizeboston.com to update related web pages, promote and manage events and workshops. Collaborate with the program assistant to the marriage ministry to manage financial transactions like processing payments, making deposits, and creating invoices. Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in theology, religious studies, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred. Catholic in good standing, who understands and supports the mission of the Church and of the Archdiocese of Boston, including maintaining a lifestyle consistent with Catholic moral teaching and who accepts the teaching of the Church on human sexuality, conjugal love, responsible parenthood, marriage, and family life. Ability to speak Spanish and/or Portuguese is a plus. Familiarity with Church documents on marriage and family, such as Catechumenal Pathways for Married Life, Familiaris Consortio, and Pope St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body. Knowledge of Church teaching and current literature on evangelization, catechesis, and discipleship. Ability to articulate Catholic teaching and advise on pastoral needs. Experience working with the public, including handling issues/complaints diplomatically. Ability to anticipate needs, establish priorities, maintain confidentiality, demonstrate discretion, project a positive attitude, and exercise a high level of professionalism. Strong skills in organizing, multi-tasking, taking initiative and following through in a busy, changing environment. Excellent relationship-building skills with a focus on service to others. A high level of energy and creativity. Possess strong communication skills (both oral and written); ability to communicate effectively via email, telephone, and webinar. Strong interpersonal, leadership, and presentation/public speaking skills. Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Archdiocese of Boston. Flexible work schedule including nights and weekends. Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 as well as social networking and presentation tools. Experience with both Macs and PCs. Physical Performance Elements The position requires the ability to sit, operate a keyboard, speak, lift 20 lbs., bend, stoop, stand, and reach.
