Non-Exempt Education and Experience :

Must meet all of the following requirements: possess a high school diploma or

GED:

possess a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA), or at least 9 credit hours of college coursework in the field or Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Experience (at least 12 months) working in early childhood or experience in other OSR approved settings.

Required Skills and Abilities:

Extensive knowledge of early childhood education including all domains of learning and development Ability to individualize using assessment data to drive instruction Proficient with Google Drive Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to prioritize tasks Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment

Teaching Strategies Gold Performance Responsibilities:

Assumes the responsibilities of the teacher in her/his absence from work with the assistance of a paid substitute. When a question arises in the classroom, defers to the teacher at all times. Works individually or in small groups with children to reinforce learning concepts presented by the teacher. Assists and helps monitor students with the use of technology in the classroom. Leads instructional activities under the direction of teacher to include playground activities. Reads daily lesson plans for school day prior to beginning and assist with long-range, weekly and daily lesson planning. Assists with student observations and recording relevant data to assess progress, under the direction of the teacher. This may include reporting and recording in TSGold. Assists in routine duties such as: a. Room organization and maintaining bulletin boards b. Completing lunch and attendance forms c. Completing attendance form d. Snack and rest time e. Bathroom duties f. Prepares teaching materials g. Assists with daily cleaning duties of the classroom as requested by the teacher Assist with morning arrival and/or afternoon dismissal duties daily. Maintain a positive work ethic, be aware of professional boundaries, and ensure confidentiality is maintained. Attend in-service workshops, trainings, meetings, etc. as required. Must attend a minimum of 10 hours of OSR sponsored training each year plus 10 additional hours of training offered by local or regional programs for a total of 20 hours. Attendance at the OSR sponsored PreK conference is mandatory. Required to document all local and OSR training attendance in Power School and keep training certificates onsite for verification of attendance. Other job duties as required by the Children’s Services Classroom Support/OSR Coach or Principal.

Background Check Required:

(Ala. Code §§ 16-22A-5) Upon offer of employment, employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands to finger, to handle, or feel objects, equipment, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Adequate physical and mental health documented with a signed statement from a physician.
