Job Description:

The Head Teacher plays a crucial role in fostering the early learning and development of children at the Children’s Center while their parents or caregivers attend to family matters in Family Court. This role ensures a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children while maintaining compliance with all required policies and protocols. Must speak English and Spanish.

Key Responsibilities:

Foster children’s social, emotional, and intellectual growth in a secure and supportive environment. Develop and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to children’s developmental needs. Maintain daily contact logs and prepare monthly reports in accordance with NYS Unified Court System requirements. Communicate effectively with parents/caregivers while onsite at the Family Court Building. Collaborate with the Children’s Center director, staff, volunteers, and Family Court personnel as needed. Implement and uphold safety policies, including adherence to

COVID-19

protocols.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (preferred) with a minimum of three years’ experience. Bachelor’s degree in Education or Human Services, along with three years of relevant experience, will also be considered.

Certification:

Must pass all required state and agency background checks.

Skills and Attributes:

Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational and time management abilities. Friendly and nurturing demeanor. Proven ability to engage with children effectively and with patience.

Physical Requirements:

Good mobility with the ability to lift and carry children as needed.

$44,000.00 – $46,000.00 per year
