out of 5 stars Columbiana, AL Job Summary Blanket Fort Hope is a Christ-centered, Alabama-based advocate that is positioned to bring restoration to child survivors of human trafficking. Our focus is on providing therapeutic housing & support services, foster-care training, and ongoing advocacy and education in our communities. Blanket Fort Hope is seeking caring and dependable Youth Care Specialists to work part-time in a Christian based group home for girls who have experienced trauma. Blanket Fort Hope’s (BFH) Youth Care Specialists provide safe, compassionate and dedicated supervision, care and support to residents, foster healing, restoration and growth. The Youth Care Specialist’s role involves nurturing each resident’s physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being while modeling Christ-like and trauma-informed behavior and providing guidance that reflects our faith-based mission. Child Care Providers also work closely with a team of professionals to support each child’s unique needs and promote a sense of hope and stability. Trauma-Informed Care- Apply trauma-informed practices to understand and address the unique needs of each youth, creating a supportive and safe environment that promotes spiritual, emotional and physical healing. Spiritual Guidance-Integrate Christian principles into daily interactions and activities, providing spiritual support and encouraging personal faith development in alignment with the organization’s values. Daily Living-Oversee daily routines, including mobility, medication administration, meal preparation, homework assistance, and laundry, personal hygiene, while fostering a sense of structure and security. Behavior Management-Use positive discipline techniques and Christian principles to manage behavior, promoting growth and understanding rather than punishment. Emotional Support-Provide a listening ear and empathetic support, helping residents navigate their emotions and build resilience. Family Engagement-Communicate with birth families and guardians, providing updates and collaborating on care strategies to support each child’s development and well-being. Collaboration-Work with healthcare professionals, social workers, educators, therapists, and other team members to create individualized plans that support each resident’s growth and healing.
Emergency Response:
Respond to medical and emotional emergencies with calmness and efficiency, following established safety protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents. Qualifications and Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or training in social sciences, healthcare or related fields is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in areas of Social Work, Counseling, Nursing, Psychology, Education, Child Development or related field preferred or certification as a Nursing Assistant or Pharmacy Technician. Experience will be considered in place of these degrees and certifications now and for future hires. Prior experience working with children, especially in a behavioral healthcare, trauma-informed or faith-based setting, is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write and speak clearly and effectively, and to listen. Certified in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
