Category Schools – Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing – Telehealth Job Type Contract We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Teacher. This role combines interpreting services and instructional support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students in a virtual learning environment. You will play a vital role in ensuring effective communication and delivering quality education tailored to the needs of each student.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide virtual sign language interpretation for students during live online classes and school activities. Deliver virtual instruction to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. Apply effective teaching strategies tailored to individual needs. Collaborate with teachers, staff, educators, families, and team members to ensure effective communication and education. Adapt interpreting styles to meet the needs of students with varying levels of hearing loss and educational requirements. Monitor and document student progress and maintain accurate records of services provided.
Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL). Valid Florida Educator License with a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement. Previous experience in a school setting and experience teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. Familiarity with virtual learning platforms and technology. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
