CERTIFICATIONS
Possesses proper teaching certificate as directed by the Bureau of Teacher Certification, Pennyslvania Department of Education.
REPORTS TO
Special Education Director
JOB GOAL
To effectively teach students covered by Special Education services at CMAVTS and help support them in their learning, including academic and vocational programs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Track all discipline referrals for all Special Education students and make necessary recommendations. 2. Provide learning support primarily in the Alternative Learning Center. Labs and classrooms as needed. 3. Assess students vocationally and academically. 4. Provide consultive support to academic and career & technical teachers on adaptation of educational materials. 5. Attend IEP meetings, as assigned. 6. Conduct staff in-service on special education topics, as assigned. 7. Compile and analyze data of special education students and make recommendations as warranted. 8. Support instructors to analyze and utilize an Individualized Education Plan. 9. Be knowledgeable in the CMAVTS Curriculum Model. 10. Provide adaptations for all students assigned to the Alternative Learning Center. 11. Implement the educational program within the philosophy and policies approved by the Joint Operating Committee and the guidelines established by the Administrative Director. 12. Maintain a professional attitude and appearance. 13. Model a sound work ethic and regular attendance. 14. Attain and maintain teacher credentials as required by Pennsylvania Department of Education. 15. Participate in regular professional development activities to keep abreast of advances in technology, curriculum and instructional delivery techniques, and remain current in all areas of the field of expertise. 16. Develop, revise, and implement instructional activities and materials to support the student’s curriculum. 17. Utilize a diversity of instructional and behavioral management delivery methods in order to motivate students and promote learning. Mentor students and provide counseling and/or refer students to appropriate school specialists. 18. Implement and maintain a system of student discipline and encourage appropriate student behavior. 19. Maintain student records and communicate student progress to parent/guardians. 20. Maintain confidentiality of all student records. 21. Read and implement all students’ Individualized Education Plans. 22. Prepare and submit report, information, budgets, and inventory as required. 23. Maintain instructional equipment and provide for repair as needed. 24. Adhere to all policies enacted by the Joint Operating Committee and guidelines established by the Executive Director. 25. Supervises assigned Teacher Assistant. 26. Supervises students. 27. Maintain filing of all paperwork and reports pertinent to position.
SELECTION
Appointment shall be by the Joint Operating Committee following the recommendation of the Administrative Director.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and length of employment as determined by the Joint Operating Committee.
EVALUATION
Performance is to be evaluated annually by the Director of Special Education.
