Executive Director SUMMARY:
This description outlines the responsibilities of the Nurse-Instructional Aide. Essential duties of this position are to provide care for students who are ill or injured and provide instructional support to students and instructors to ensure that every student will have the opportunity to succeed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide care for students who are ill or injured. Provide information and instruction on health topics as required and/or mandated. Administer medication according to school district policy. Communicate with families and home school nurses regarding health care needs of students. Communicate with staff regarding the special, physical and medical needs of students while maintaining compliance with local, state and federal regulations. The Nurse-Instructional Aide assists instructors in overall supervision of daily shop/classroom activities or projects to ensure student safety. Provides students who require additional help with individualized instruction as requested by the instructor. Works with the instructor to implement the student’s IEP goals. Assist with curriculum/instructional modifications as recommended by the student’s IEP. Assists the instructor in development and administration of progress monitoring for students who require alternative/modified assessment. Provides support and assistance to all students enrolled in a vocational program as needed. Assists the instructor in maintaining shop/classroom safety. Other duties as assigned by the Instructor or as directed by the Executive Director.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
: Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Nursing License (RN or LPN) is required. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Shall possess a High School diploma. Experience in an educational setting or school-age students is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Hold a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license. Possess a valid Pennsylvania Nursing License (RN or LPN) Possess or willing to obtain valid CPR and First-Aid instructor certification
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must have the ability to read, and understand, written directions and technical manuals. Ability to write and correspond as directed by the Instructor are essential skills.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Must have the ability to work with basic math skills such as measuring, length and liquids. They must be able to perform simple calculations. OTHER SKILLS and
ABILITIES
Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Instructor to whom they’re assigned, forge a productive working relationship with students and professional peers. They must adhere to the daily schedule in the programs to which they are assigned. The ability to speak clearly and concisely is necessary. The ability to effectively deal with a wide range of people is a must.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to lift/carry 35 lbs. Sit stand, and walk without limitation. The noise level in this position varies.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
A summative performance review of this position will be conducted annually by the Executive director in coordination with the Program Instructor(s). A formative review of performance, in an effort to provide the employee with constructive feedback regarding their day-to-day performance, may be undertaken by the Program Instructor at any time during the school year.
