Individual must be familiar with and comfortable working in, a military environment within the Department of Defense. Individual must be able to conduct classroom instruction with minimum supervision. Individual must have the ability to establish and maintain professional and effective working relationships and effective communication with associates, students, visiting teachers/administrators as well as military personnel who are assigned to McEntire JNGB. Position may require occasional out of town training and/or travel. Individual must be able to stand for all periods of time in conjunction with teaching and/or other administrative duties. Individual must be capable of working with the basic 5th grade

STARBASE

Swamp Fox Advanced program conducted at the Middle School level. Former teaching and/or school administration experience is desirable.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Bachelor’s degree in education, preferably elementary or middle school in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline. Personnel with comparable military instructional experience or individuals pursuing teaching certificates may be considered.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Must have knowledge of the principles of instruction, knowledge of basic education principles and theories, and the knowledge of modern management techniques and principles. Ability to create and apply lesson plans. Ability to maintain an orderly classroom and render individualized instruction. Ability to maintain effective relationships with students, visiting teachers, administrators and parents. Criminal history background checks are required for all individuals involved with the provision of C&Y services and programs who have regular contact with children under the age of 18. In accordance with DoDI 6060.02, prospective employees must complete a new DD Form 2981, “Basic Criminal History and Statement of Admission (Department of Defense Child and Youth (C&Y) Programs),” upon application for any position within a DoD C&Y program.
