Vocational Health Assisting Instructor Job Description:
The Leominster Center for Technical Education Innovation School is seeking a vocational Health Assisting Instructor for the health assisting program. The Health Assisting Instructor is responsible for teaching the Ch.74 Vocational Frameworks for Health Assisting and preparing students for certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant, (CNA) in the state of MA, including coordination of CPR and First Aid training.
The candidate must be certified, or certifiable per the D.E.S.E. guidelines for teacher licensure under Health Occupations. The correct candidate will be able to set instructional objectives, design and prepare lessons, as well as plan and implement supporting activities that meet the standards outlined by the Department of Elementary & Secondary Education.
Additionally the instructor should communicate learning goals, classroom expectations, and responsibilities to administrators, parents, guardians, and students. It is expected that the instructor will build positive relationships with students in the program and throughout the school community.
REQUIREMENTS

MA DESE license as a Ch.74 Vocational Technical Health Assisting Instructor, (Or be licensable).
Bachelor’s degree or higher related to the subject matter and skills to be taught.
Possession of a current MA license as a registered nurse, (RN), with at least two years’ nursing experience, one of which must have been in a level II or Level III long term care facility.
Teaching experience directly related to Health Assisting preferred.
Vocational experience teaching health assisting curriculum, assessment of student learning, teaching employability skills, and working with a diverse student population preferred.
Effective classroom management and interpersonal skills.

Promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity.
Excellent listening, speaking, reading and writing skills
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Responsible for the development and implementation of departmental curriculum objectives and competencies based on MA State Framework.
Teach technical skills and knowledge to provide students with competence in their field.
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media.
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects to communicate these objectives to students.
Utilize appropriate resources and educational technology to enhance student learning.
Continuously improve the instruction, curriculum, and equipment so the program remains current with all trends in the field and is properly preparing students for emerging jobs.
Plan, organize and provide appropriate learning experiences within the assigned area of responsibility.
Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
Develop positive relationships with community partners in the area and actively solicit their help, including service on the Program Advisory Board.
Accommodate student’s special needs and/or those who are undergoing unique circumstances and reach out to as risk students.
Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students, colleagues, and parents concerning both the broad academic/vocational and behavioral progress of assigned students.
Prepares, develops, implements and delivers daily lesson plans to students enrolled in the Health Assisting Program or other assigned class.
