Watertown, Connecticut job type: Permanent salary: $75,000 – 90,000 per year work hours: 8am to 4pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: The Controls Engineer will provide electrical engineering services for new production equipment and all aspects of manufacturing to ensure that world class products are available to our customers. This position exists to improve efficiency, fix programming related issues in a timely manner to reduce/ eliminate the equipment downtime. Their work affects equipment, employees, work environment and process standards and specifications. Responsibilities Assist new products team with determining requirements and cost estimates for machines that are built in-house and by outside suppliers. Provide general supervision to outside contractors (electrical, mechanical, PLC programming, construction, plumbing, HVAC, building, etc.) to resolve material and/or equipment problems, research and implement upgrades, new tools and operating procedures.

Works with Operators, Supervisors, Maintenance and QA department to improve processes and troubleshoot equipment repair and maintenance.

Create timing plans, design control systems, create schematics, order components, write programs, debug machines and provide support for one year after launch. Develop control systems including electrical, PLC, hydraulic, pneumatic, servo, HMI’s, etc.

Review existing logic programs to ensure safety of all associates.

Promote company policies and principles. Ensure that all areas of responsibility meet all state and local laws and requirements in relation to OSHA.Use innovative techniques to improve manufacturing processes.

Ensure that logic systems documentation is complete, up-to-date, stored on computer files and available at all times.

Assist the Engineering Department to ensure compliance of the machine specification for new purchases and rebuilds.

Champion continuous improvement projects to enhance safety, productivity, quality, reliability, capacity and processes. Project manage & coordinate implementation of continuous improvement actions.

Create and execute project plans and work with all levels of the organization to meet project timing and budget.

Ensures manufacturing practices are current, consistent and compliant Policies and Procedures, all external state/federal regulations and customer requirements Digital analog and motion control experience Experience programming robotsManufacturing PLC experience (Siemens, GE, Allen Bradley) qualifications: Experience level: ExperiencedMinimum 5 years of experience
