We are seeking a new Press Engineer Manager to join our Smyrna, TN, team! This position is responsible for managing the Press Engineering Department, directing the Press Engineering members and establishing manufacturing processes with provided tooling and equipment to assure competitive, safe, and high-quality manufacturing of High Strength Steel stamped products in a fast-paced lean manufacturing environment along while seeking continuous improvement in quality and cost.
Duties and Responsibilities
Development and training of Press Engineering Members including routine evaluations and goal setting.
Communication with Production, Quality, HR, and other relevant departments.
Co-develop/mature new program products with other related Engineering Departments and other relevant functions, including Japan Engineering members.
Continuous Improvement (Kaizen) on existing products including SPM increases, dimensional accuracy, scrap reduction, material yield, and manpower requirements.
Leadership for implementation for design changes or mill changes.
Check tooling before shipping it from Japan (Ability to travel abroad).
Feedback on die problem to design standard.
Department budget and cost management.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Strong mechanical, time management, and analytical skills
Knowledge of material properties, mechanics of materials and how these materials react when subjected to varying stamping conditions
Must be capable of working with peers, subordinates, supervisors, and management on a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to remain current with state-of-the-art technologies and practices related to the metal stamping process, as well as develop innovative solutions when necessary.
Ability to use MS Office-Excel, Project, Word
CAD – AutoCAD efficiently, Solid Works or other 3D platform familiarity.
Educational and Experience
B. S. Degree in an Engineering discipline preferred, but relevant experience will be considered.
Prior Engineering Management experience required.
Stamping Die Tooling experience required.
