The Tri-County Technical College Corporate and Community Education Division invites applicants to apply for the role of CNC Adjunct Instructor.
Position Overview:
The primary responsibility of the adjunct CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Instructor will be to deliver training and instruction to students pursuing CNC (Lathe and/or Mill) programming and machining skills as a result of the courses. Training will provide the crucial role of hands-on training, theoretical knowledge, and practical skills development related to CNC machines, programming, setup, and operation. The purpose of the instruction will be to equip students with the necessary skills and competencies to succeed in the field of CNC machining manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop Curriculum:
Design and develop a comprehensive curriculum for CNC programming and machining courses that align with industry standards, best practices, and emerging trends. Update the curriculum regularly to reflect technological advancements in the field.
Classroom Instruction:
Deliver engaging and effective classroom instruction on topics such as CNC programming languages, tooling selection, machine setup, operation, and troubleshooting. Utilize a variety of instructional methods, materials, and tools to enhance student learning.
Hands-on Training:
Facilitate hands-on training sessions in the CNC machining lab, where students can apply theoretical knowledge to practical hands on skills, perform tool changes, machine setup, and execute machining operations safely and accurately.
Demonstration:
Conduct live demonstrations of programming techniques, machine operations, and machining processes. Utilize equipment and training aids to provide realistic scenarios and enhance students’ understanding of equipment operations.
Assessments and Evaluation:
Develop and administer assessments, quizzes, and practical exams to evaluate students’ comprehension, skills, and progress. Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students to help them improve their CNC machining abilities.
Safety and Maintenance:
Teach students about machine safety protocols, safe working practices, and regular maintenance procedures for CNC machines. Emphasize the importance of following safety guidelines and adhering to industry regulations.
Industry Collaboration:
Foster relationships with local manufacturing companies, CNC machine suppliers, and industry professionals to stay updated with the latest advancements and industry practices. Collaborate on projects, guest lectures, and potential job placement opportunities for students.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate student attendance records, grading sheets, and course documentation. Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development discussions, and ongoing professional development activities to enhance teaching skills. Minimum and Additional Requirements Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications or extensive industry experience may also be considered. Strong knowledge and practical experience in CNC programming, machining, and related technologies. Proficiency in using CAD/CAM software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Mastercam. Familiarity with various types of CNC machines, such as mills, lathes, routers, and multi-axis machining centers. Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively deliver technical information to students. Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation. Patience, adaptability, and the ability to provide constructive feedback supporting different learning styles of students. Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks.
