Our recent accolades include ENR Southeast 2024 Design Firm of the Year GMC is seeking a motivated Alabama licensed Professional Land Surveyor with 10+ years of experience for our Birmingham, AL office. The successful candidate(s) should have extensive knowledge in executing Boundary, Topographic, ALTA/NSPS Land Title surveys, Subdivision Platting and construction staking.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

Utilizes advanced field survey technology, ensuring efficient and economical performance and processing of survey work. Proficiency with GPS, Robotic Total Station and Data Collectors equipment. Process GPS statistical data. Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to import point data and manipulate. Calculate points based on data sets provided; establish and set points and offset on construction stakeout projects. Create sketches and records measurements to indicate exact location of horizontal and vertical control points. Understands the requirements in the design and/or construction of a project. Proofs and approves proposals, scheduling and project deliverables for presentation. Plan the project workflow prior to starting the project including budgeting and scheduling. Conducts thorough research to obtain the appropriate public/private land records, survey control point data, and other pertinent information from various sources for boundaries, location, topographical surveys, locations of right of way and utilities. Experience in boundary topographic, as-built, construction layout and quality control surveys related to modeling and design of land development, utility and roadway infrastructure.

Qualified Candidates will have:

Current/active Professional Land Surveyor license in Alabama Minimum of 10 years’ Professional Land Surveying experience; 5 of which are in the State of Alabama Bachelors of Science Degree in Geomatics/Surveying or a related field Understands the survey requirements for design and construction of civil site development, buildings, transportation and utility infrastructure Able to collaborate with skilled technicians and design professionals in a robust Team environment Highly motivated to serve clients, communities and colleagues as a professional. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to read and interpolate construction plans. Ability to obtain access and clearance to government facilities. A valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle record. Pass a drug screening and company background check.
