Job Summary East Tennessee State University invites applications for a Lecturer or Professor of Practice of Surveying and Mapping to begin August 2025. The Department of Engineering, Engineering Technology, and Surveying at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN, is seeking applications for a full-time faculty position, 9-month appointment, starting in the fall of 2025. Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses, student recruitment, curriculum and laboratory development and maintenance, service, and establishing strong relationships with the land surveying and geomatics industry. The Surveying and Mapping Science program is accredited by ABET and the successful candidate would be expected to assist with the program and departmental accreditations. The applicants will teach lectures and labs in the department. The candidates must demonstrate their proficiency and ability to teach within the subject areas and be able to develop interdisciplinary project-based courses. Teaching areas may include land surveying law, land boundary law, land subdivision design, geodesy, survey automation techniques (e.g., GNSS receivers, laser scanner, etc.), and other land surveying or departmental courses as required. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the department.
