Staff Accountant Position Available In McDuffie, Georgia

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Thomson, Georgia. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and supporting the preparation of financial reports. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting individual to contribute to a dynamic organization while leveraging their expertise in financial processes and tools.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and update financial records by accurately entering transactions into the general ledger.
• Prepare, review, and reconcile monthly Balance Sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Conduct monthly Flux Analysis and provide actionable insights based on findings.
• Support the month-end close process by working with the Controller and team to verify the accuracy of accounting data.
• Manage and reconcile fixed assets, including tracking additions, disposals, and calculating depreciation.
• Prepare documentation and assist external auditors during the audit process.
• Review financial documents to identify discrepancies and ensure accurate reporting.
• Assist in the development and implementation of improved internal accounting processes and procedures.
• Handle fiscal reporting, tracking, and analysis to support organizational goals.
• Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned by the Controller. Requirements
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a preference for candidates with 10 years.
• Strong understanding of double-entry accounting, financial statements, and basic accounting principles.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, IQ, and Microsoft Access; experience with inventory tracking systems is a plus.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with complex spreadsheets.
• Familiarity with managing fixed assets, depreciation, and financial reconciliations.
• Ability to read and interpret Profit and Loss (P& L) statements and understand how transactions flow through financial systems.
• Experience with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes.
• Bilingual Spanish proficiency is a plus, especially for handling documents in Spanish.
