General supervision is exercised over subordinate staff and assists with accounts receivables and payables; Performs independent judgment in accordance with established policies and procedures, rules and regulations.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Education Required:
Graduation from an accredited 4-year college or university.
Preferred:
Master’s degree from an accredited College or university. Area of Study (major)
Required:
Accounting or closely related field with a minimum of 24 semester hours accounting course work.

Accounting. Certification(s)
Preferred:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or working on exam passage. License(s)
Required:
Valid LA Driver’s License Years Relevant Work Experience:
Five (5) year’s related work with at least 2 years supervisory experience in the field of professional accounting, auditing or financial management. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. .
Preferred:
10 or more years related experience.

Knowledge of all accounting principles, practices & procedures and journal entrypreparationUnderstanding of Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles(GAAP)Support month-end and year-end close process to include sales tax filing, due-to/from, reconciliations, accounts payable, 1099 processing, fixed assets and inventory processes, etc. Knowledge of account coding, grant reporting, bank reconciliations, data entry, asset & inventory managementThorough knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, procedures and process governing the receipt, custody, and expenditures of governmentalmoniesSkill in the use of Computers and 10-key calculationsProficient in MS Office, Word, Excel, etc., and accounting software applicationsStrong interpersonal and organizational skillsTeam-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountabilityStrong verbal and written communication skillsSolid analytical skills with a thoughtful and open-minded approach to problem solvingHighly motivated with the ability to multi-task and remain organized in a fast-paced environmentHigh in customer service and the ability to deal with the public with tact and courtesy.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Full time, minimum 8 hours a day, 5 days a week; occasional overtime; one hour lunch break daily, other breaks as needed.
