- 7 Min Mid Max $51,605 $64,501 $77,397 Role Summary This position performs routine, professional-level accounting functions, analyzes and reconciles assigned accounts; monitors and processes departmental procurement card statements; reviews and approves ORED personnel forms associated with sponsored program awards; reviews bi-weekly payroll; monitors ORED equipment inventory; processes fund transfers between ORED programs; and assists with reviewing & processing travel.
The role involves working with an enterprise resource planning system, such as SAP or Workday, and requires extensive use of Microsoft Excel. Examples of Work Performed Oversees the ORED procurement card program which includes monitoring transactions for compliance with State procurement laws and Institutional policies, collects supporting documents and posts weekly statements. Daily reviews of university personnel forms associated with sponsored program awards. Involves reviewing SPA budgets for compliance. Processes the bi-weekly student payroll timesheets. Assists with and provides guidance for the preparation of ORED travel. Audits travel forms prior to submission to Travel Office for compliance with State regulations and Institutional guidelines. Monitors ORED equipment inventory, updates master spreadsheet for purchases and disposals, reconciles annually and assists with bi-annual audit. Transfer funds for ORED Research and Development programs and close-out of accounts. Maintains knowledge of State of MS and Institutional regulations required for the administrative function of the department. Reconciles monthly telecommunications report. Submits work orders for asset & equipment related activity. Performs financial and related duties as required or needed. Provide administrative support for the five departments of the Office for Research and Economic Development in order to better further ORED’s mission. Essential Functions These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department. 1. Develops, organizes, prepares and updates moderately complex financial statements, journals, accounts, ledgers and reports for various financial needs within an automated financial system to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions. 2. Analyzes financial reports, data and records, identifies discrepancies, investigates and recommends solutions as needed. 3. Develops and maintains automated financial systems, recommending controls to ensure system reliability and data integrity. 4. Audits reconciliations, journal entries, schedules, reports, and prepares working papers. 5. Provides budget information and projections based on existing data and established policies and procedures.
Minimum Education/Experience Education:
Bachelor’s Degree Experience:
