Job Description
The accountant is responsible for the following
- Preparing monthly and annual financial statement for the school to include Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cashflow Statement
- Preparing financial reports for quarterly and yearly school executive meetings
- Preparing month-end and year-end adjusting and closing entries
- Managing and auditing accounting transactions to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to both GAAP and Adventist Church Corporation policies
- Managing accounts receivable and accounts payable functions ensuring that payments are received, and vendor payment are made to maintain adequate cash flow
- Preparing journal entries and reconciling general ledger and subsidiary accounts
- Reviewing expense reimbursements to ensure they comply with financial policies
- Preparing annual and mid-year budgets based on past trends, forecasts, and projections
- Providing guidance to school administration in terms of budget questions and operation within budget
- Assisting with school’s strategic and long-term business decisions through financial analysis and statistical reporting
- Preparing monthly, quarterly, and yearly cash flow projections and creating receivable and payable schedules to maintain adequate cash
- Conducting financial analysis and making financial recommendations to finance committee, school board, and Conference to improve the financial standing and performance of school
- Providing training in the use of the school’s computerized financial system, proper receivable, coding, document processing, account collections, and other accounting related activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or foreign equivalent.

Employer will accept bachelor’s degree in business, or foreign equivalent with a minimum of 20 credit hours in Accounting or Finance.
