Full Job Description Role Summary:

The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing key aspects of the accounting function, including general ledger activities, financial reporting, and the supervision of Accounts Payable processes and staff. This role supports month-end close procedures, ensures compliance with internal controls, and provides financial insights through analysis and reporting. The Accounting Supervisor plays a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records across Wilson Lumber Company, Kudzu Millwork, and related entities. Scope of the

Position:

This position ensures timely and accurate financial operations and reporting while leading Accounts Payable staff and optimizing accounting workflows. The Accounting Supervisor reports to the Controller or Finance Manager and may collaborate with external auditors and internal leadership teams.

Key Responsibilities:
General Accounting & Reporting:

Prepare and review general ledger entries with proper documentation. Complete timely and accurate balance sheet and bank reconciliations. Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures. Prepare and maintain financial reports for multiple entities, including balance sheets and income statements. Support budgeting processes and periodic updates. Analyze financial data and provide insights and recommendations to leadership. Assist with business and tax filings.

Accounts Payable Supervision:

Oversee Accounts Payable processes to ensure timely and accurate payments. Supervise and support AP staff, including workload management, training, and performance development. Develop and maintain AP procedures and ensure compliance with internal controls. Review vendor statements and resolve discrepancies. Ensure proper documentation and coding of payables.

Systems & Process Improvement:

Recommend and help implement enhancements to accounting processes, systems, and internal controls. Utilize ERP systems (e.g., Epicor BisTrack) and Excel for analysis and reporting. Participate in system upgrades or transitions as needed.

Support & Collaboration:

Provide accounting support for projects, including new business units, M&A activity, and restructuring. Prepare schedules and documentation for external audits. Maintain accounting knowledge and share best practices with the team.

Other Duties:

Stay current on accounting standards and participate in continuing education. Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required). 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in lumber, manufacturing, or distribution. Experience supervising staff or leading AP functions (required). Proficient in accounting principles and ERP systems (Epicor BisTrack a plus). Strong communication and analytical skills with a high attention to detail. Ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities in a collaborative environment.
