JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of this classification is to performlead professional level accounting work for the District’s budgetand finance programs. Duties include coordinating, preparing,analyzing and auditing transactions in order to maintain accuratefinancial records. Maintains the general ledger system, preparesand consolidates MDC fund financial statements based on GAAP andGASB accounting standards, and produces comprehensive final reportsfor external auditing and customers. Ensures compliance for stategrants and loans, assists in resolving CWP grant issues, and actsas the point person for annual external audits.
SUPERVISIONRECEIVED
Works under the general direction of the Finance Manager /Controller.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in accounting,finance, or a related field; supplemented by five (5) yearsprevious accounting experience; or any equivalent combination ofeducation, training, and experience which provides the requisiteknowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Preferred Experienceand training:
SAP experience in Finance/Business functions a plusStrong grasp of municipal accounting transactions including assetaccounting, bank reconciliations, financial statements, month andyear end close activities, and GASB accounting principlesExperience leading and/or mentoring junior staff a plus Pursuing orhaving attained CPA/ Accounting Certification or MBA (Accounting) aplus
