Description
The Compliance and Research Officer is an essential role in supporting UWA faculty with federally funded research projects. This position is instrumental in not only providing essential research administrative support to federally funded programs but also maintaining the institution’s compliance with Federal research compliance rules and regulations. This is a grant-funded position.

Responsibilities:

Manage and ensure compliance with the university’s Effort Certification Policy.
Oversight and Chair of the Human Subjects Institutional Review Board (IRB).
Implement and sustain the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).
Responsible for sub-award monitoring, financial and administrative management.
Coordinate and assist post-award programmatic and financial reporting deadlines with PI’s and the Business Office.
Maintain and update Clearinghouse based off of research policy and procedures.
Work with OSPRO Executive Director to engage with faculty, develop and market research.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Sponsored Programs, Research, and Outreach.
This is a grant-funded position. No guarantee or commitment is made for future or continued employment beyond the award of the grant or the terms of the contract. Grant funding ends on September 30, 2026. Qualifications

Essential:

Bachelor’s Degree.
Sound ethical judgement.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Research skills: ability to locate & synthesize research administration information.
Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
Ability to form positive working relationships with faculty.
Positive, professional attitude and a high level of energy and enthusiasm.
Organizational skills, time management, and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
Strong adaptive computer skills.

Desired:

Master’s Degree.
Knowledge of research administration and research compliance.
CITI program training certificates in compliance research administration.
Experience with the Ellucian Colleague platforms.
Experience with providing professional development/training to faculty.
