out of 5 stars Clinton, MO 64735 SUMMARY This technical and professional position is responsible for providing an independent assessment of bank compliance issues. This position performs monitoring of deposit and lending activities to comply with federal and state banking laws and regulations. The compliance specialist must read and interpret compliance regulations. An audit mindset is then utilized to determine whether or not the bank’s activities are functioning within the requirements of our own policies and procedures and within compliance of the regulation. This position is expected to work independently of management and exercise professional skepticism. Work is performed within the framework of standard compliance program guidelines; however, a high level of independent judgment and discretion is required in performing assigned tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Adhere to a compliance program that is approved, reviewed, and revised by the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors, including the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Risk Officer. Assist in implementing appropriate compliance controls and procedures for new and existing laws. Assist in disseminating information and advising staff regarding new and existing laws and regulations. Review various deposit and lending activities for regulatory requirements to ensure the bank is in compliance with federal and state laws; complete reviews in a timely manner and report findings to management and the compliance committee. Work with business line management and review recommendations and actions plans for corrective action based on findings; provide oversight to ensure the corrective action plan has been implemented. Compile minutes of the monthly compliance committee meeting. Serve as a subject matter expert and provide advice and opinions to other bank staff regarding bank compliance issues; research topics utilizing a wide variety of sources to obtain accurate and timely information. Assist in recommending and implementing regulatory requirements; assist in maintaining a schedule of compliance activities; delegate compliance requirements to affected bank staff. Assist management and regulatory examiners to expedite the examination process by gathering requested documents, providing reports and work papers; respond to questions and comments. Assist in determining the need for compliance training for bank staff; assist with recommendations regarding compliance training. Attend and provide input at internal and external meetings. Review technical bulletins, alerts, newsletters, etc.; disseminate pertinent information to affected staff. Comply with all banking regulations, policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE
Possess a two-year college degree from an accredited university or institution with the major area of study in business, accounting, finance, or other closely related discipline. Plus additional education and/or training. Possess a minimum of five years of professional work experience in banking. Experience in the areas of compliance, audit, loan processing/servicing or comparable position is preferred. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager certification, or other relevant professional certification.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have the ability to operate a PC and printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone. Must have good working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software programs. Working knowledge of pivot tables is a plus. Advanced PC knowledge. KEY CONTACTS–Internal and External Has frequent contact with all departments.
