About the Opportunity This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp [FEU]. The selected candidate must work on site in a “main” FirstEnergy location (Akron, OH, Morgantown or Fairmont, WV, Greensburg or Reading, PA, or Morristown or Holmdel, NJ). This position reports to the Manager, Transmission Planning & reporting.

The successful candidate will support financial planning, reporting, and analysis for the Transmission segment. The individual will play a critical role in supporting the company’s financial health by providing accurate financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting. This position is responsible for budgeting, variance analysis, and strategic planning support, working closely with business unit leadership to drive informed decision-making.

Responsibilities May Include:
  • Provide support for the Transmission leadership team with timely, accurate and actionable analytics. Own and drive clarity into financial reporting.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and reporting processes/deliverables for Transmission Finance. This includes, but is not limited to, detailed O&M and capital planning, P&L, balance sheets, cash flows and credit metrics.
  • Serve as a Finance Partner engaging with key stakeholders such as Transmission Operations, Utility Leadership, Rates, Tax, Controllers and numerous other departments across the company. This includes establishing a clear connection between Transmission financial plans and performance. Increase business knowledge of teams, identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and drive results.
  • Facilitate governance matters related to the FET Board and our partner Brookfield. Prepare monthly financial reporting on FET’s results and support the creation of Board and strategy retreat materials.
  • Support the creation of certain SEC filings and disclosures as they relate to FET as they are an SEC registrant. Additionally, create SEC filings and disclosures as they relate to FE as part of the Stand-Alone Transmission reporting segment.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities related to our day-to-day activities. Seek ways to streamline and automate processes through technology to increase focus on value-added activities.
  • Provide Regulatory support with preparing data and documentation for rate filings and regulatory proceedings
  • Participate in the closing process as necessary, preparing journal entries that support Transmission.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, engineering, business, or related discipline required. Advanced degree is preferred.
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience with increasing impact and responsibility. Relevant work experience includes budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis of O&M, Capital, or full P&L results.
  • In lieu of a college degree, a minimum of 6+ years of related work experience is required.
  • Strong financial acumen, including in-depth knowledge of financial statement analysis, budgeting/forecasting theory and process, and internal/external reporting functions. General knowledge of GAAP and FERC accounting principles. Regulated finance experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of the State and Federal regulatory framework and ability to translate recommendations into actions to optimize results.
  • Proven ability to develop business partnerships and earn trust across organizations.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expert analytical skills with a track record of solving complex issues and providing clear, logical, and impactful solutions.
  • Technical expertise in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Experience in SAP and UI Planner a plus. Data visualization skill set and technical capabilities with Power BI.
