This is a Hybrid position and will report to Gerry, NY 2-3 days a week. The Director of Finance is responsible for the supervision and control of the general ledger functions, monthly and yearly system close, financial statement or other report preparation, in addition to reimbursement functions, such as cost report and 990 preparations.
Brief Summary of Duties:
- Provides the Director of Financial Services and Reimbursement with financial and statistical information on all corporate activities.
- Maintains financial control procedures and records that will ensure the sound and accurate representation of financial data. Responsible for review of financial records to ensure reliability and conformity of procedures.
- Reviews and approves all journal entries prepared by staff. Has the ability to assist staff with meeting deadlines if necessary, including preparation of journal entries.
- Complete month-end review, including review of staff-prepared reconciliations and tie-outs. Complete monthly intercompany tie-out and allocation of management fees.
- Serve as liaison between Heritage Ministries and the insurance intermediary, including completion of renewal documents, claims management, and communication of other various requests of the intermediary.
- Lead the annual audit, including communications with the audit firm; delegate audit support requests and tasks as necessary to meet audit deadlines.
- Gather information for and prepare supporting documentation for cost report preparation. Prepare first drafts of all cost reports (across all states, including Medicare and Medicaid) and make any subsequent changes based on review by the Director of Financial Services and Reimbursement.
- Research any discrepancies with staff, facility personnel, etc. to ensure reporting processes are accurate, or delegating to staff as necessary.
- Prepare Form 990 for all organizations, in addition to applicable state filings. Maintain supporting documentation to support values and responses reported within these forms.
- Participate in cash flow management working with the Financial Analyst. Process transfers for various automatic payments. Create stop-payments and reissue checks as necessary.
- Perform monthly expense reviews
- Plan and execute monthly trainings for department staff regarding various topics determined by the Director of Financial Services and Reimbursement.
- Work with Director of Financial Services and Reimbursement to remain apprised of current cost reporting and reimbursement regulation changes which may impact all aforementioned filings.
- In the event of an audit of any regulatory filing by an outside agency, work with Director of Financial Services and Reimbursement to obtain the requisite information in the time period requested by auditors, including any subsequent requests.
- Other duties as assigned Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting preferably with experience in a LTC setting, with a CPA preferred; or any combination of experience, education, and training which would provide the level of knowledge, skill and ability required.
- Knowledge of technical and professional principles and skills of accounting and long term care finance.
- Knowledge of data processing capabilities and procedures.
- Knowledge of appropriate management and supervisory skills needed to supervise the general accounting staff.
- Knowledge of requirements and regulations set forth by Medicare and other related agencies.
