Job Description
Description Our client is looking for an experienced Accountant to oversee the financial audit of a non-profit organization based in Nashville, Tennessee. This long-term contract position requires a highly organized individual who can manage audits, financial documentation, and ensure compliance with accounting standards. The role involves working closely with a small team 10 to 20 hours per week and contributing to the financial success of the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review financial audit documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Maintain and organize electronic and physical financial records, including documentation for audits.
- Handle bank reconciliations and monitor restricted versus unrestricted contributions.
- Utilize QuickBooks Online to manage daily accounting tasks and generate reports.
- Collaborate with the charity director on financial planning and ad-hoc projects.
- Classify expenses by function and ensure proper allocation for non-profit reporting.
- Provide audit documentation and address issues related to older financial audits. Requirements
- Proven experience in accounting, preferably in non-profit organizations.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and other accounting software systems.
- Familiarity with fund accounting and the classification of expenses for non-profits.
- Knowledge of auditing practices, including annual internal audits and single audits.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes.
- Ability to manage electronic and physical financial records effectively.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
