The Credit Underwriter will play a key role in evaluating customer creditworthiness, assessing financial risk, and supporting account set up and credit decisions that align with both customer needs and company objectives.
Key Responsibilities :
Credit Risk Analysis & Underwriting Evaluate the creditworthiness of new and existing customers, including jobbers, multi-site operators, and commercial accounts. Recommend credit limits and terms based on financial analysis and risk exposure. Review and verify credit application data and supporting documentation. Identify and negotiate appropriate collateral requirements. Coordinate legal filings such as UCCs and Deeds of Trust with attorneys and internal stakeholders. Account Setup & Documentation Set up and activate customer accounts in internal systems. Maintain accurate credit files and ensure consistent data entry and updates. Track and update workflows in the Opportunities Management system. Communicate new account details and documentation status with internal teams. Monitoring & Collections Monitor accounts for past-due balances, credit limit overages, and unapplied credits. Request updated financials and perform periodic credit reviews. Identify and resolve billing or payment issues proactively. Support collection efforts and escalate risk concerns as needed.
Requirements :
Education Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred. Experience 2+ years of experience in credit analysis, underwriting, or a related financial role. Industry experience in petroleum, wholesale fuel, or transportation preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams). Strong analytical and organizational skills. Knowledge of UCC filings and secured lending practices. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. High attention to detail and accuracy in a deadline-driven environment. Professional and customer-focused demeanor when working with internal and external stakeholders.
