Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support our client based in Pittsburgh, PA. As a Payroll Specialist, you will go beyond traditional payroll processing to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency while navigating federal, state, and local regulations. Primary Responsibilities:

Accurately and timely process payrolls while maintaining compliance with employment laws, tax regulations, internal controls, and company policies. Administer all aspects of payroll preparation and processing for corporate offices and other salary payrolls as required. Assist in reviewing weekly and biweekly payroll processing previews to ensure precise results. Establish new state, SUI, and local jurisdiction accounts with taxing agencies and the payroll system. Monitor state legislative changes (e.g., paid family and medical leaves, sick leaves) to ensure compliance updates in the payroll system. Review quarterly tax reports, collaborating with the payroll team to resolve issues promptly. Maintain the master tax database in the compliance portal, monitoring ongoing tax notices and addressing potential tax filing rejections. Serve as the primary contact for required SOX compliance audits, organizing payroll data submissions. Generate and distribute month-end reports and payment requests accurately and on time. Assist with unclaimed property maintenance with the payroll team. Contribute to year-end activities to ensure the accuracy of annual W-2 forms. Perform other related duties as assigned, contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or relevant working experience. Certified Payroll Professional certification preferred. Minimum of three years of multi-state payroll processing experience. Proficient knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and requirements. Experience with ADP Enterprise (or similar payroll systems) required. Familiarity with UKG Kronos (or similar time and attendance systems) preferred. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., Pivot tables and VLOOKUP).
