is hiring – Financial Counselor
Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey Community Health Center (CHC) offers comprehensive, community based, preventive, primary care and wellness services for New Jersey residents of all ages at four convenient locations. CHC health care services are designed to meet the specific needs of the entire family – from annual check-ups and immunizations to sick visits, mental health counseling and critical prenatal care. Join our mission-driven team in Keyport, NJ as a Financial Counselor, where you’ll work directly with uninsured patients to guide them through financial eligibility programs, track appointment schedules, and ensure all documentation is accurately completed in our system. You’ll serve as a key liaison across departments, provide training to front desk teams, and lead proactive patient outreach. Responsibilities
Supports organization’s mission by striving for excellence in all aspects of the job with a focus on positive interpersonal relationship with stakeholders up, down, and across the organization.
Reviews site’s appointment schedule to track and monitor uninsured patient panel.
Monitors the site’s appointment schedule in order to prepare for future appointments, including outreach to patients regarding required documentation. Leverages all secure patient communication platforms to interact with patients and collect information in advance of appointment.
Accurately determines eligibility for each class of uninsured patient programming, including sliding fee discount program and self-pay.
Completes all necessary documentation with accuracy in Practice Management software (NextGen).
Provides training to Front Desk Coordinator team; assists with training in other locations as needed.
Participates in regular meetings with Office Manager and Billing Supervisor to review site performance. Adheres to the organization’s policy in regards to absenteeism and appearance.

Qualifications
2+ years of experience in clerical and office support work
Prior experience in medical billing and/or insurance enrollment required
Bilingual (English-Spanish) required
Ability to problem solve and work independently with little supervision
Strong communication and math skills
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a culturally diverse population

Working Conditions/Physical Demand:

Business Office Environment within a fast paced healthcare center with heavy phone and computer use
In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the total compensation range for this position is USD $33,280.00 to USD $87,500.75. When determining an offer, Visiting Nurse Association Health Group considers factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, relevant skills, internal pay equity, and market and organizational conditions. The total compensation range reflects the total package, including base salary, overtime, bonuses, add-on incentives, special clinical compensation, retirement plans, and all other benefits.
