Job Summary:

The Tax Manager, Core Tax Services is responsiblefor advising clients on the tax implications of their businessobjectives, evaluating and selecting alternative actions to lessentax burden and cost of compliance, identifying different methods ofcomplying with tax regulations while acting as the primary clientcontact for complex tax issues. In this role, the Manager ischarged with applying knowledge to understand potential tax issuesand recognizing and communicating potential risks and potentialchanges in the tax policy. In addition, the Manager will beinvolved in the marketing, networking, and business developmentwithin an area of expertise and specialization and may be asked toprovide written tax advice to clients.

Job Duties:
Tax Compliance:

Ensures both that (a) clients comply with all applicableauthorities, while at the same time minimizing their tax andreporting burdens, and (b) self and client service teams complywith all Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual(“TQM”) Conducts top level review of T/R and resolves all taxissues with client; involves specialists where appropriateCommunicates with client and Assurance any issues identified in taxaccrual reviews Plans and reviews the tax process and theprocedures to be performed to include: Budgeting and staffingMonitoring engagement process and actual time incurred vs. budgetwith assistance of Senior Timely billing including management ofidentified out-of-scope activity and communication to client Timelycollection of A/R Manages client relationships/expectations inaccordance with the project Provides advice to clients in a timelymanner

Research:

Identifies when research is needed; clearly andconcisely frames issues to be researched; and clearly and conciselyreports the analysis Applies most Firm and professional standardsfor preparation of WTA and tax returns Involves firm specialists,as appropriate

(FAS 109 and FIN 48)

Tax Accruals:

Correctly and proactively applies Firm policies, standards, and theBDO Tax Quality Manual (TQM) regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48 Applies,correctly and proactively, ASC 740-10, and Firm policies,standards, and BDO TQM regarding them Explains and discussescomponents of the income tax provision and uncertain tax positionsto the client as well as other complexities surrounding ASC 740-10Communicates with Assurance counterparts to timely plan tax accrualreviews, including budget, scope and delivery dates Utilizes andmanages STS, as needed

Tax Consulting:

Assists with developing,recommending, and implementing efficient and effective methods tomaximize client benefits, especially by decreasing clients’ currentand future taxes Considers the applicability of CTS and STSconsulting specialties for each client Develops and implements awork plan to include/organize the STS assistance on ongoingprojects from client Serves as a technical resource Ensures clientservice teams comply with Firm policy; regarding Written Tax Advice(“WTA”), Provides effective assistance with exam support Framesprojects and issues for effective delegation to seniors andassociates

Tax Specialization:

Develops an in-depth understandingof the technical and practical issues and opportunities regardingone or more areas of taxation, e.g., individual, corporate,property, sales, corporate, pass-through, state and local,international, expatriate, transfer pricing, credits andincentives, compensation and benefits, accounting methods, R Dtax benefits May be required to organize and conduct effectiveinternal CPE training sessions in area of specialization, involvingFirm specialists

Strategy Development:

Introduces and develops newor improved ideas to improve the position of clients, the Firm, orFirm personnel, e.g., by reducing taxes or expenses or providingnon-tax benefits Reviews studies of tax implications and offersclients alternative courses of action Identifies and leverageslessons learned on prior projects, and offers input on how toimprove processes and methods Other duties as required

SupervisoryResponsibilities:

Supervises associates and senior associates onall projects Reviews work prepared by associates and seniorassociates and provide review comments Trains Associates andSeniors how to use all current software tools Acts as a CareerAdvisor to associates and senior associates Schedules and managesworkload of associates and senior associates Provides verbal andwritten performance feedback to associates and senior associates

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education:

Bachelors degree, required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economicsor Statistics, preferred Masters in

Accountancy or Taxation,preferred Experience:

Five (5) or more years of prior relevant taxexperience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting orconsulting/professional services experience, required Priorsupervisory experience, required Industry expertise in one or moretax specialty, preferred

License/Certifications:

CPA certification,Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or InternalRevenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or the equivalent of one ofthese designations), required Possession of other professionaldegrees or certifications applicable to role, preferred

Software:

Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, preferred Experiencewith tax research databases and tax compliance process software,preferred

Language:
