Job Summary Reporting to the Vice President of Business and Financial Affairs, the Bursar manages student accounts and account receivables functions for the university. The Bursar supervises billings and manages cash receipting. A primary responsibility is safeguarding university assets. The Bursar works with students and parents on payment arrangements, while adhering to university policies and procedures. This position processes student refunds, establishes deadlines and ensures compliance; performs maintenance to ensure smooth operation of systems. The Bursar works with other university offices and devises procedures to ensure internal controls are in place for critical decision-making.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, University System of Georgia, and institutional guidelines and regulations related to student accounts.
Oversee recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation of office staff.
Provide direction and leadership in financial management, fiscal policies, and internal controls related to the Bursar function.
Work collaboratively with the Office of Financial Aid to ensure proper aid disbursement to students.
Maintain the accuracy of student tuition and fee accounts.
Maintain the accounts receivables for the University; perform reconciliation.
Oversee the billing process to ensure accurate and timely statements; manages the collection of outstanding balances.
Oversee the student refund process and ensure necessary account adjustments are made.
Work with parents, students, and other offices concerning student balances and questions.
Responsible for the establishment and maintenance of revenue detail costs.
Ensure the fee tables are established and properly assesses students attending SSU.
Work with the Office of the Comptroller to ensure all assessed revenue in subsidiary letter is properly recorded in the general ledger.
May be required to perform job related duties other than those specifically delineated in this description.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or a related field from an accredited institution.
Three to five years of experience in a financial role, preferably within higher education.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems (e.g. Banner, PeopleSoft, etc).
Must possess excellent customer service skills.
Proposed Salary The proposed salary range is $80,000.00 to $85,000.00 annually. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
