Position Summary:

Nourse Farms is a leading player in the plant propagation industry, known for our commitment to excellence in providing high-quality plant stock. Nourse Farms is seeking a highly skilled, detailed orientated and reliable Controller to support our Nourse Farms finance team. This role is integral to our financial operations, is responsible for overseeing financial statements like balance sheets, invoices, accounts payable and accounts receivable. Their duties include directing accounting team members and department operations, compiling financial reports based on financial statements and implementing policies and procedures for financial reporting. The Controller will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of our financial data and supporting the overall financial health of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist management with important financial decisions. Process and execute company budget, reconciliation, journal entries, and forecasts. Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, adhering to national and local legal standards while remaining knowledgeable of proposed legislation. Maintain internal safeguards for revenue receipts, costs, and team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures. Prepare and review financial documents such as business reports, financial forecasts and statements to understand the financial state of business and act accordingly. Supervise employees who work under the Controller in preparing financial reports and budgets. Maintain internal safeguards for revenue receipts, costs, and team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures. Keep up to date on the financial market to understand how to maximize profits and find new expansion areas. Understand the financial status of a company to meet legal requirements and keep the financial state in good standing. Process and monitor payroll and payroll documents to ensure employees receive the correct amount per pay period. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration, or related field. Minimum 8+ years of professional accounting experience Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various departments and other stakeholders. Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting Experience in managing payroll, with focus on streamlining accounting processes Exemplary history of financial project management Proficiency in ERP systems (NetSuite, iSolved) and advanced Excel functionalities The ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management about the finances of the business and justify certain financial recommendations Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and present actionable insights to senior leadership. Experience leading projects, including system upgrades or process reengineering. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address challenges proactively and strategically. Exemplary integrity in handling sensitive financial information and maintaining organizational trust and mutual reliance. Flexibility to manage shifting priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders. Experience with accounting and financial software and stay up to date with current trends. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Proactive approach to identifying and resolving challenges; analytical skills.

Physical Stamina:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work in varying temperatures.
