  • 5:30pm Primary Function/General Purpose of Position The Post Cardiac Technician will assist the staff by performing patient care and clerical duties under the direction of an RN.

The Post Cardiac Technician will also perform both venous and arterial femoral sheath removals under the direct supervision of an RN or MD. This role will also maintain and update patient records in a timely, orderly manner, acknowledge and greet customers upon arrival to unit, and demonstrate an enthusiastic friendly approach. Essential Job Functions Performs delegated direct patient care activities under the direction of a registered nurse. Reports conditions of patients including changes or abnormal findings to appropriate registered nurse. Documents VS and ADLs concurrently in appropriate format and notifies RN/LPN with abnormal variations Provides nursing care in a non-judgmental manner that respects patient diversity, acknowledges patient rights, and identifies resources to meet patient needs. Acts as a patient advocate. Correctly and efficiently transcribes physician orders to include computer order entry. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, core measures, infection prevention, patient safety and quality initiatives to achieve optimal clinical and organizational outcomes. Maintains a well-organized workstation and provides an environment that is conducive to workflow. Maintains medical record in appropriate order. Under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or MD, performs both venous and arterial femoral sheath removals and closely manages the access site to prevent or identify complications. Licensing/Certification Current certification as a Nursing Assistant preferred. Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification Card. Education/Work Experience One of the following must be met: Graduate of an accredited high school or GED equivalency examination and have completed Fundamentals of Nursing course or a Nursing Assistant Program. Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Graduate of an accredited high school or GED equivalency examination and have experience as a patient care technician in an acute care setting or nursing home. Experience with direct patient care (vitals and ADL job duties) in an assisted living facility. Graduate of an accredited high school or GED equivalency examination and a current Roper St. Francis teammate. Must successfully complete the RSF PCT Training Program upon hire. Associates or Bachelor’s degree graduate (in any field) with no experience requirement. Must successfully complete the RSF PCT Training Program upon hire. Training Successful training and maintained competency in both venous and arterial femoral sheath removals required within 30 days in position.
