Job Summary and Qualifications The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Implementation and Optimization for Clinical Education is a key leadership role responsible for the successful execution and continuous improvement of clinical education programs. This individual will develop and oversee implementation strategies, ensuring effective communication and management throughout the program lifecycle. The AVP will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and analyze educational initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include managing the end-to-end implementation process, from initial planning and stakeholder engagement to execution and post-implementation review. The AVP will utilize data-driven approaches to monitor program performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement best practices to enhance program effectiveness. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, with the ability to review and interpret complex data sets to inform decision-making and optimize program outcomes. In addition to implementation duties, the AVP will lead efforts in continuous process improvement, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence within the clinical education team. This includes conducting regular assessments of program efficacy, gathering feedback from participants and stakeholders, and developing strategies to address identified gaps and opportunities. The AVP will also be responsible for creating comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to senior leadership. Responsible for the oversight of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the program in adherence to the

criteria working closely with the Division Vice Presidents of Clinical Education Stays current of Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP) requirements and recommendations to closely align HCA Healthcare’s Transition to Practice Programs (RN Residency/Fellowship) Ensures efficient and effective delivery of quality clinical education content and programs that will facilitate learning in the new graduate nurse during their first year Selects varied teaching strategies, as appropriate, for classroom and clinical experience to support clinical learning in the classrooms and at the bedside Selects varied teaching strategies, as appropriate, for classroom and clinical experience to support clinical learning in the classrooms and at the bedside Supports division nurse extern programs Collaborates with the AVP Academic Partnerships to ensure continuous process improvement based on evaluations and identification of best practices within HCA Healthcare relating to student experience and Dedicated Education Units (DEUs) Understands and stays current on national trends and research related to nursing professional development, transition to practice and new nurse support; collaborating with various stakeholders at the corporate and division levels to ensure HCA Healthcare’s guidance aligns with the current research finding as applicable Participates and is actively engaged on various work teams as it relates to clinical education strategy and new graduate nurse support. This may include providing feedback, piloting and implementing new support programs

Collaborates with various stakeholders such as division VP of Education, Division Directors, and nursing leadership to summarize trends. Facilitates discussion on how to mitigate those practice gaps Promotes and cultivates positive relationships with academic programs to foster a positive for HCA Healthcare’s Transition to Practice programs Regularly reviews transition to practice and education program data and program outcomes to identify areas for improvement Collaborates with applicable stakeholders at the corporate and division level to maintain tracking methods to ensure competencies, orientation, surveys, and other program components are completed within established timeframes Collaborates to align and evolve Clinical Education key strategies to strengthen clinician pipeline, support transition to practice, and promote life-long learning & development

Growth:

Assist in the development of clinical education framework and strategy to prioritize, delegate, and execute initiatives that align with the enterprise nursing strategy Assist in the development and maintenance of clinical education operating procedures to provide consistency and drive performance outcomes Represents the organization positively within the community; participates in company supported community/patient events and in-services Supports external relationships which advances the organization’s position within the community, grows the business and improves the health of communities served Stays abreast of regulatory changes, emerging technology, and advancements in healthcare delivery Stays abreast of external factors and opportunities impacting healthcare; to include political, legislative and regulatory changes, emerging technologies, and advancements in healthcare delivery. Finance:

Participates with corporate education team to contribute to the development of long and short range operational and capital budgets aligned to business objectives Provides requested data to assist in completing monthly operations; provides information on variances to the Group VPs of Clinical Education and other applicable stakeholders for action plans to address gaps Understands impact on department performance in accordance with established budget. Including the utilization of staffing, supplies, equipment Participates in the annual budget process providing input into assigned facility expense forecasts, staffing, supply and equipment needs Identifies cost reduction opportunities and implements actions to achieve savings

Additional Responsibilities:

Must be flexible to work various shifts to support Preceptors and assess new graduate RNs during the Residency Program Ability to travel up to 25% of the time Must remain flexible and available to provide staffing assistance for any/all disaster or emergency situations What qualifications you will need: Master’s degree In Nursing or Education; if the graduate degree is not in nursing, the undergraduate degree must be in nursing

  • Preferred 5+ years of experience in an acute care facility and 2+ years of experience in education, organizational development, nursing leadership, or human resources in a hospital setting
  • Required Currently licensed appropriate to education in the state(s) in which he or she practices, in accordance with law and regulation
  • Preferred Certification as NPD Practitioner highly preferred
