Responsibilities:

“` Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the practice. Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety. Complies with practice policies regarding attendance and dress code. Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated. Checks to ensure that rooms and units are ready, stocked and clean at the beginning of each appointment. Oversees cleanliness of operatory on a continuing basis throughout the day. Help in other areas of the office when necessary (phones, greeting patients, appointments, etc.) . Greet patients when they check in. Develop and maintain patient flow process in the office with Dentist. Seat patients and have proper set-up for procedures. X-ray is current and of good diagnostic quality. At all times show care and concern for patients, ask about position, offer reading material, water and try not to leave patient unattended in the chair. Be available when the dentist starts treatment. Anticipate and assist dentist’s needs at all times. Give patient post-operative instruction. Escort patients from the treatment room to waiting area. Perform digital x-rays Perform clinical procedures as delegated by the dentist. Monitor patient flow and report to manager. Update patient’s health history at each visit. Perform other tasks as assigned by the dentist. Ensure employees have access to antiseptic hand cleaner and clean paper towels. Ensure availability and use of protective wear for employees: eye protection, facemasks, gloves, gowns and other protective clothing. Instruments and equipment Discard all disposable items for each visit. Assemble soiled instruments and place in sterilization area. Clean treatment room surfaces with disinfectant solution. Pre-soak soiled instruments in a disinfectant. Process instruments in ultrasonic cleaner tank. Rinse and soak treatment trays in disinfectant. Sort and package instruments by tray for sterilization. Load, activate and vent the sterilization unit according to the manufacturer’s directions. Store instruments and trays in appropriate places. Unpack and store all inventory items. Clean ultrasonic units and autoclaves. Use a spore test once a month for sterilizer. Keep sterilization area clean and neat at all times. Maintain a dental & office supply inventory for office. Discard needles in puncture-resistant, leak-proof, labeled containers. “`

Qualifications:

  • Dental assisting experience is required
  • Knowledge of dental receptionist systems is a plus
  • Proficient in medical documentation and record keeping
  • Strong knowledge of dental anatomy and terminology
  • Experience with Curve Hero or other dental software is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to provide exceptional patient care
