The Clinical Assistant performs all clinical assistant operations while maintaining a successful work relationship with the doctor, dental/ office team and patients by providing excellent customer service.
Clinical Responsibilities:
Greet patients in waiting area and escort them to the operatory Assist the orthodontist during examinations and procedures Prepare for procedures by organizing instruments and equipment Prepare teeth for final bonding of brackets by the doctor Remove orthodontic appliances and/or brackets as prescribed by the doctor Remove ligatures and wires from brackets Fit orthodontic bands Take x-rays as prescribed Take alginate impressions as prescribed Pour, trim, and polish impression casts Record treatment rendered in the patient’s chart and charge out all procedures Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control Handle hazardous chemicals in a safe manner Participate in cleaning duties assigned to clinical assistants and as needed Ensure proper clinical supply levels Treat patients, visitors, and co-workers with respect and courtesy Communicate with the patients and parents effectively Participate in teamwork Communicate in a courteous and professional manner Proactively and continuously improve conflict resolution skills and problem solving techniques in managing interpersonal conflict and patient complaint Be organized, motivated, committed, and self-directed Demonstrate ability to use assigned computer software and other equipment Complete annual education and/or licensing requirements if applicable Maintain dependable job attendance Adhere to all safety and infection control rules Use appropriate safety equipment Comply with OSHA and HIPPA guidelines and maintain confidential information Proactively look for things that need to be done or improved, and take action towards doing so or bringing to the attention of management
